Have you ever had a dream that you felt so connected to, but then you looked around at your life and started second-guessing yourself? Maybe you've had a vision for your future for years, a soul calling that keeps coming back no matter how many times you try to push it aside. But then the questions start creeping in. Am I on the right path? Why is this taking so long? I don't have time to do this. What if it never happens for me? Or even worse, should I just give up?
If you've ever felt this way, I want you to remember something: if a dream keeps returning to your heart, there's probably a reason for it. There's something about that vision that continues to call you forward. You don't have to know exactly how it's going to happen or have every step figured out. You do, however, have to be willing to trust yourself, follow your intuition, and take action.
Today, I want to share five things that helped me along my own journey and that you can use when you're ready to stop questioning your dream and start moving toward it.
My Own Journey: Learning to Trust the Vision
Before I get into the five steps, I want to share a little about my own journey because I think sometimes we see someone's life in the present moment and forget how long it took them to get there. We don't always see the setbacks, the uncertainty, or the moments when they questioned whether they were doing the right thing.
My spiritual journey started many years ago when I was dealing with a major health crisis involving anxiety and self-doubt. I was incredibly critical of myself, and I wasn't someone who had a lot of confidence. After going through that healing experience, I was called to energy work. Reiki essentially fell into my lap, and it changed my life. I began healing my body, mind, and spirit, and from there, I slowly started falling into my purpose.
Looking back, I feel like Spirit had my back and kept nudging me forward. I never envisioned the business I have today. I didn't know anyone who had a spiritual business, and I didn't have a clear role model showing me how to create one. In many ways, I was figuring it out as I went along. I was also someone who wanted everything to be perfect, so putting myself out there was not always easy.
There were plenty of times when I questioned myself or wanted to stay hidden. I wasn't always confident in my intuitive abilities, my beliefs, or my next steps. I certainly wasn't always comfortable speaking on camera or openly sharing my spirituality. That confidence came over time, through showing up, taking opportunities, and slowly allowing myself to become the person I am today.
Now, I have a spiritual business, a podcast, a number-one bestselling book, and a beautiful community of people who are nurturing, caring, and supportive. I also have a family, a dog, a career, and a life outside of my business. I didn't suddenly find more hours in the day. I created space for something that mattered to me, and I kept following the calling.
And that's what I want you to take away from my story. Your vision might look different from what you originally imagined, and it might take longer than you expected, but it can become something even better than you thought possible.
1. Take Inspired Action
One of the biggest things that keeps us stuck is waiting for the perfect moment. We tell ourselves we'll start when we have more time, when we're more confident, when we've learned more, or when we know exactly how everything is going to work out. But here's what I've learned: confidence doesn't always come before the action. Very often, confidence comes because of the action.
I wasn't confident in my intuitive abilities or in the vision I had for myself. I didn't even know what my next steps were going to be. But I kept showing up. In the beginning, that might have meant posting an inspirational quote or sharing a little piece of my story on Instagram because I hoped it might help someone else. Over time, the more I showed up, the more comfortable and confident I became.
Inspired action doesn't have to be some huge, overwhelming leap. It might be brainstorming ideas, signing up for a class, sharing your gifts with someone, recording a video even if you don't post it, or finally posting something even if you don't have a large audience watching. Every small step creates momentum.
And remember, Spirit can send you signs, guidance, and opportunities, but you still have to be willing to walk through the door. You have to listen, pay attention, and take action when something feels aligned. Your dream doesn't need to have every single detail figured out right now. It's a vision, a long-term goal. You can work out the details along the way.
So ask yourself: What is the vision I've been holding onto? What have I always wanted to do? What is driving me forward? Write it down, and then think about one small action you can take today.
2. Release Fear and Self-Doubt
Fear and self-doubt are going to show up. And honestly, they don't necessarily disappear just because you become more successful or reach a certain level. Every time you expand, put yourself out there, or do something new, you may find yourself questioning your actions, your decisions, your posts, or even your abilities.
You might wonder, What if people judge me? What if I fail? What if I'm not good enough? What if someone criticizes me? What if this doesn't work out? Those thoughts are normal, especially when you're stepping outside your comfort zone. But if you allow those fears to make every decision for you, you'll never give yourself the opportunity to experience what's possible.
Fear often shows up because it wants to keep you safe. Your inner child, your shadow side, and your ego may try to pull you back toward what feels familiar and comfortable. Your ego wants certainty and safety, while your soul wants to expand and experience more. And sometimes those two things are going to feel like they're pulling you in completely different directions.
The next time that little voice in your head says, "What if I fail?" try changing the question. What if this is exactly what I'm meant to do? What if this works out even better than I imagined? What if I'm capable of more than I currently believe?
You don't have to wait until you're completely fearless. You just have to learn how to move forward even when fear is there. Stop waiting for someone else to give you permission, and start trusting yourself, your intuition, and what your soul is calling you toward.
3. Trust Divine Timing
I know divine timing can sound cliché, especially when you're the person waiting for something to happen. We want results. We want breakthroughs. We want confirmation that everything we're doing is actually working. And we want it now!
We're so used to having immediate access to everything that patience can be difficult. But not everything happens on our timeline, and not seeing the results you want right away doesn't mean nothing is happening.
Think about planting a seed. You don't put it in the ground and expect to see a flower the next morning. There is growth happening beneath the surface before you ever see anything externally. Your dreams can work in a similar way. You might not have the validation, opportunities, or results you're hoping for yet, but that doesn't mean you're not making progress.
Sometimes the time between having a vision and actually bringing it to life is when you're learning, growing, preparing, and becoming the person who can hold that vision. Use that time to fine-tune your dream, develop your skills, and build the confidence you need to move forward.
Rather than assuming that Spirit or the universe is delaying your dream, consider that you may be getting the time and space you need to prepare for it. Trust that your journey doesn't have to look like anyone else's. Your timing is your timing.
4. Align With the Energy of Your Dream
Something else I learned is that you need to become the person who is ready to receive the dream you're working toward. Your energy creates the foundation for the vision you want to bring into your life.
When you're constantly drained, exhausted, disconnected, or comparing yourself to other people, it can be difficult to hear your intuition and stay connected to what you actually want. When fear takes over or you start doubting your gifts, you can lose sight of your own vision and begin focusing on everyone else's journey instead.
Now, being aligned doesn't mean you have to be positive all the time. It doesn't mean you can't have negative feelings, difficult days, or moments when you question yourself. And it certainly doesn't mean that everything you want will suddenly appear the moment you ask for it. Alignment is about noticing what you need, caring for yourself, honoring your gifts, trusting your own wisdom, and choosing thoughts and behaviors that support the future you want to create.
Ask yourself: What energy do I need to embody to create this vision? Do I need more confidence? More courage? More patience? Do I need to make more time for myself or start believing in my abilities? Maybe you need to stop comparing your journey to someone else's and start recognizing what you already bring to the table.
Your dream requires you to show up for yourself. When you begin believing that it's possible and making choices that support it, you start creating a stronger foundation for what you want to experience.
5. Stay in Flow
There's a difference between hoping your dreams come true and actively creating them. Staying in flow means continuing to show up, taking action, working through your fears, and keeping your vision at the forefront of your mind. It means being consistent and committed, even when things aren't moving as quickly as you'd like.
You're co-creating with the universe and with Spirit, but your actions need to match the vision you have. You can't just hope something will happen while continuing to make choices that keep you in the same place. Each day, look for the opportunities to make choices that support the future you're trying to create.
And please remember that every day isn't going to be easy. You're going to have setbacks. You're going to have days when you want to hide, when you're tired, when life gets busy, or when your responsibilities at home take priority. That's part of being human. Give yourself grace when you need to slow down. Take time to rest, focus on your energy, and take care of the things that need your attention. But don't let one difficult day turn into giving up on the bigger vision.
You can take a break without abandoning your dream. You can slow down without losing your momentum. The important thing is to keep coming back to it and taking the next step when you're ready.
Don't Give Up on the Dream That's in Your Heart
If there's a dream or vision you've been holding onto for years, I want you to think about why it's still there. Maybe you don't have the time, money, knowledge, or energy you wish you had right now. Maybe you look at other people who seem further along and wonder why things aren't happening for you. But don't let those circumstances convince you that your dream isn't possible.
There's a reason you feel called toward something. The universe wants you to share your gifts, be of service, inspire others, and bring more of what you have to offer into the world. There may be lessons along the way. There may be delays, unexpected challenges, and moments when things don't work out the way you planned. But those experiences can help shape you into the person who is ready to hold the vision you've been working toward.
Keep taking inspired action. Keep moving through the fear. Trust divine timing, align your energy, and stay in flow. You don't need to have everything figured out today. You just need to be willing to keep going. Your future self will be so happy that you didn't give up.
